Jacobe Johnson became the Sooners’ 20th commit for 2023. Regarded as the No. 2 player in Oklahoma, Johnson is a senior at Mustang High School.
Although Jacobe Johnson now resides in Mustang with his parents, Malcolm and Marcia Johnson and twin brothers, Jaytee and Jayden, Jacobe Johnson grew up and attended school at Rush Springs until he was a freshman in high school.
The Johnson family moved to Mustang and Jacobe began his freshman year as a Mustang Bronco. He wasted no time making his abilities known and was a stand out on both the football field and basketball court as a freshman.
During the pandemic, when schools were shut down, practices and team sports were shut down as well. It was during this time Jacobe caught lots of attention.
Jacobe and his twin brothers continued to condition and work on their skills on their own while they were stuck at home.
When Marcia saw Jacobe jumping from the ground to the top of the brick mailbox, she knew she had to record it. Once her video hit social media, Jacobe’s name became even more well known. It wasn’t long until Jacobe started receiving calls from Division 1 college coaches.
Although Johnson is a natural athlete, he is also a good student and a young man of humble character.
Johnson received college offers from other power house schools including Stanford, Alabama, Michigan and OSU. Jacobe plans to be a two-sport athlete at OU.
Jacobe is the son of Malcolm and Marcia Johnson and the grandson of David and Sharon Dennis.
