Although the temperatures continued to rise throughout the day Saturday, a great crowd gathered to see the Car Show and watch the Soap Box Derby, put on by Tommy and Kim Jordan. The Jordan’s started this fun event six years ago to raise money for local youth. From year one, the event has grown in popularity and participation.
Saturday was no exception, although temperatures rose and the sun was bright midday. The 2022 Rush Springs Watermelon Queen made an appearance, got in on the fun and took a run or two down the hill in an exhibit race. County Commissioner Ralph Beard was also on hand to cheer on the dragsters and take a ride himself. No matter the age, everyone participating and spectating had a wonderful time.
